Information for Participants

This research project has been approved by the Research Ethics Board of the University of Windsor

We are an Indigenous and non-Indigenous team from the University of Windsor comprised of both faculty and students, guided by knowledge keepers and elders. In conducting this research we are using traditional academic methods as well as Indigenous methodology. Therefore our mindset for this research is that we become a team with the research participant where we can co-create knowledge.

We are seeking to learn how organizations can develop and maintain cultures of trust and psychological safety for Indigenous employees.

We are looking for positive stories of work experiences lived by Indigenous people. We understand that there are many negative experiences faced by Indigenous employees in the workplace, however in this project we are seeking to learn what organizations currently do to create positive experiences for Indigenous employees and what they can do in the future.

Through the stories participants are willing to share with us, we are seeking to build a framework that organizations can use to create an inclusive workplace climate and a culture of trust for Indigenous employees, especially our growing youth population. This project will span the next five years, with the hopes of creating protocols that can be used across the workforce, regardless of industry.

If you are willing to assist with us in this research, you would be asked to participate in an interview (approximately 30 - 40 minutes) asking questions about your work experiences, and agree that the interview may be audiorecorded.  A team of 2 researchers, led by Alisha Jacobs, would meet with you virtually at a mutually agreeable  time. Once the interview has been transcribed, a copy will be sent to you for you to review and edit if you wish.

Participation in this project will be completely confidential, with the name and work location of participants known only to members of the research team.  Records of who participated will be kept separate from responses. Any publication of information related to this project will focus on common themes that emerge, and ensure that participants are unidentifiable.

All participants will receive a $25 Tim Horton's gift card.
